THE DRIM

The Drim is a beautiful stone house, whose history dates back to the 14th century, that currently provides exceptionally spacious accommodation internally and is set in its own grounds of some 11 acres. These consist of formal gardens, old barns, a courtyard, an arboretum, an orchard and open fields with distant views of the sea. Most of the house was built in the 19th century with extensions added over the years. A short stroll through the grounds and public footpaths will bring you to Goodwick where there are shops, restaurants, the railway station and the beach. The ferry to Rosslare also leaves from the port at Goodwick. The Drim is in an ideal position for exploring the beautiful coast and countryside, walking the coastpath or just a short drive to Strumble Head to see the lighthouse and panoramic views which North Pembrokeshire is famous for.  With a little patience porpoises, dolphins, seals, red kites, choughs and numerous other wildlife may be spotted. This really is a stunning property, with oil fired central heating, an Aga and wood burning stoves making it ideal for a holiday any time of the year. Entering the property from the cobbled courtyard brings you into the warm and welcoming informal dining area with Aga, Welsh Dresser, table chairs and benck (this would have been the original kitchen). A large, bright modern kitchen with four windows overlooking the courtyard on one side and fields on the other, which includes a range of fitted cupboards, gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher and double sink drainer, leads to a utility room housing a washing machine, fridge and freezer and ample storage room. The ground floor of the property has mostly quarry tiles throughout with rugs furnishing the rooms.Through the hallway there is a larger dining room,  two sitting rooms comfortably furnished with sofas, occasional tables and in one a TV connected to satellite in the other a TV screen for video games and DVDs.  Both rooms have wood burning stoves and Edwardian bay windows looking over the garden. One room is paved with quarry tiles the other with floorboards cut from local oak trees. Both rooms have rugs on the floors. A large playroom/conservatory leads from the day room overlooking the garden and fields. The downstairs accommodation is completed by a large cloakroom ideal for boots, coats etc leading to a shower room with w.c and washbasin. A large staircase leads to the first floor where there are five bedrooms, 1 kingsize, 1 double, 1 with double and a single bed and 2 singles, all are furnished with period furniture in keeping with the property. A cot and infant bed allows sleeping for 11. The kingsize and double room have window seats overlooking the garden. The staircase and bedrooms have original painted floorboards covered with rugs, one double bedroom is carpeted.. The first floor landing provides a large seating area for relaxing with a view across open fields to the sea and harbour. Leading from this there is a spacious family bathroom with bath, electric shower over bath, washbasin and w.c. and dual aspect windows.
